Son To Lead The Line – Strongest Tottenham Line-up To Face Burnley

Tottenham Hotspur

Predicted Tottenham Lineup To Face Burnley

Spurs are one of the most consistent teams in the Premier League this season as they currently stand 2nd in the points table, ten points off Chelsea who are on top. Tottenham have been in decent form of late and have beaten Southampton, Everton, Stoke, and almost all the teams in the top half of the table this season. However, they face a tricky trip to the Turf Moor this weekend to face a Burnley side that has been excellent playing in front of their home crowd. Mauricio Pochettino’s side were able to replace the injured Harry Kane and his goal scoring prowess in the previous game but with Burnley ready to frustrate them, they might miss the services of the English international in this tie. But Pochettino is expected to go with his strongest side.

Team News:

Tottenham will be without the services of Harry Kane and Eric Lamela both of whom are injured. Full-back Danny Rose has been out for a while now and though he is expected to be fit for this tie, Pochettino might not risk him in this game. Striker Vincent Janssen picked up an illness recently but should be fine for this game. Though suspended for European games, Dele Alli should be available for this domestic game.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

GK – Hugo Lloris

The French shot-stopper is the first choice for Pochettino at the Lane and he should start this game in front of goal for his side.

RB – Kyle Walker

After a decent outing with the national side in the international break, Walker should be up and ready for this crucial tie.

CB – Toby Alderweireld

Alderweireld will hope to have a comfortable game against Sean Dyche’s side who are likely to sit back and defend deep.

CB – Jan Vertonghen

The Belgian international has acted as an able partner to his national teammate this season and should start this game alongside him.

LB – Ben Davies

Though Rose could be back for this tie, Davies has been decent when deputizing for him and Pochettino should use the latter to give Rose enough time to get back to match fitness.

CM – Victor Wanyama

The former Southampton midfielder has been solid in the middle of the park for Pochettino’s side and is expected to keep his place for this tie.

Eric Dyer

CM – Eric Dier

Pushing Mousa Dembele slightly further, Pochettino should use the English midfielder alongside Wanyama in a deeper role against the Clarets.

CAM – Mousa Dembele

The Belgian international had a decent outing with his national side and he will need to have a good game if Spurs are to take all three points from this tie.

RW – Christian Eriksen

The Danish international is an important source of goals and creativity in the final third for Tottenham and he will play a crucial role in this important game.

LW – Dele Alli

The English playmaker has been superb this season for Spurs and he will shoulder some of the final third responsibilities in the absence of Harry Kane.

ST – Heung-Min Son

After a decent outing in the previous game of the competition, Son will have to repeat that performances to give Spurs three crucial points from this tie.

This is how they would line up:
