Son And Janssen To Start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Tottenham Line Up To Face Manchester City

spurs-vs-citizens

The Premier League this season has some high-octane clashes in store for us and somehow, they seem to be evenly spaced every week. After Arsenal smothered their London rivals, Chelsea, last weekend, Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City, who are yet to lose a game, will travel to the White Hart Lane. Pochettino’s North London outfit are themselves unbeaten in the League.

It is a top class contest between the top two sides in the points table and will surely be an entertaining watch even for the neutrals. The Spurs managed to hold on to all three points last weekend at the Riverside and will hope to put in a better performance at home against the league leaders.

Team News:

The manager missed a number of star players for their trip to Russia for the Champions League group stage game but he revealed that Harry Kane is the only player who will miss this clash. Moussa Sissoko, Danny Rose, Eric Dier and Moussa Dembele are all back in contention for this game and will hope to get into the starting XI. Here is the strongest line up that Pochettino can field against the Citizens:

Goal Keeper:

Hugo Lloris:

Hugo Lloris

Though Vorm has been decent, Lloris has been the undisputed number 1 for Spurs in the League and he will keep his place on the night against Manchester City.

Defence:

Kyle Walker:

The England international will be up against his international colleague Raheem Sterling and will have to be at his best to negate his threat on the night.

Toby Alderweireld:

Having made a solid start to the season, Alderweireld will be pumped up for this game and will hope that his battle with Sergio Aguero goes according to the plan on the night.

Jan Vertonghen:

Jan Vertonghen

A series of extraordinary displays makes Vertonghen one of the most consistent defenders in the league and he will be up for a tough battle against Pep Guardiola’s side.

Danny Rose:

Returning from injury, Danny Rose, will get back to his left-back spot where he will have to keep his cool and defend strongly for long periods of time.

Midfield:

Victor Wanyama:

A solid presence for the Spurs so far in the midfield this season. Wanyama will provide cover for his back four on the night and will have his work cut out.

Eric Dier:

Another player who is just back from injury, Dier, will hope to control the midfield for his side and not allow his opponents any time or space on the ball to take all three points from this game.

Dele Alli:

A decent performance in the Champions League midweek but Dele Alli will have to be more creative and confident in a playmaking role if he wants to give his team a shot at victory.

Christian Eriksen:

The fleet-footed Eriksen was unable to create much in the same game, but has made a decent start to the season and will keep his place in the side.

Heung-Min Son:

Heung-Min Son

The star player for the Spurs in Kane’s absence. Son will once again have to bear the burden of scoring goals. He will have to be at his best for his team to get anything from this game.

Attack:

Vincent Janssen:

His toughest test yet in England, Janssen, will have one of the toughest jobs on the night as he will be responsible for helping his side keep possession of the ball in dangerous areas and release some pressure on his defence.
