Simply Not Good Enough: 3 Players Arsenal Should Sell In January Transfer Window

Per Mertesacker

Fellow German Shkrodan Mustafi was brought in to cover for Mertesacker’s absence through injury. The new signing has done excellently well to nail down a place alongside Laurent Koscielny at the heart of defence. In fact he has done so well that it might be tough for Mertseacker to get back in to the Arsenal fold. The BFG as he is known, was often caught out for his lack of pace. There are certainly no problems of the same irk with Mustafi and this will give him confidence. Even Gabriel and Rob Holding seem to be ahead of Mertesacker in the pecking order. Werder Bremen have been credited with an interest to bring back their former player to the Bundesliga.

Yaya Sanogo

The French target man was picked up from the Ligue 2, where he was a prolific scorer with Auxerre. But that prolificacy has never taken birth at Arsenal for Sanogo and he looks to be on the way out sooner rather than later. Loan moves to Ajax and Charlton Athletic have also failed to help Sanogo in any way as he looks uninspired and out of sorts at Arsenal. He has only ONE goal in his Arsenal career and that is quite an alarming stat. That Wenger saw Sanogo as a credible striker who could lead Arsenal’s line is now a very shocking thing to digest and his time finally seems to have come to an end. Sanogo will be happy to move to just about any club and start over again.
