Could The Signing Of £21m Star Spell The End Of This Spanish Maestro’s Time At Manchester United?

Signing Anderson Talisca Would Be The End Of Juan Mata’s Old Trafford Career

Manchester United are set to have a busy summer transfer window as manager Jose Mourinho has some big plans for the squad. He is looking add some quality players to help them compete with the best next season and is looking to replace a few players in the current squad. One such player who Mourinho is now targeting is SL Benfica star Anderson Talisca.

Currently, on loan at Besiktas, Talisca is in terrific form and has scored 11 goals and has picked up 6 assists in all competitions, standing as an impact player for the Turkish outfit. However, Manchester United are ready to cut short his two-year loan with the club and are ready to meet his valuation of £21m this summer. According to reports, United will try to lure Talisca out of Turkey and are ready to offload Spanish playmaker Juan Mata to accommodate him in the squad. But do they need to sell Mata? Is Talisca a proper replacement for the 28-year old at Old Trafford?

The former Chelsea attacker was kicked out of Stamford Bridge by Jose Mourinho not so long ago and though it looked like Mata is integral to the current squad, Mourinho looks convinced that he can do without him yet again. Mata is currently the second top goal scorer for Manchester United this season and has been decent in the last few chances he got but he picked up an injury recently that may have ended his season. So it does not come as a surprise that Mourinho wants to look elsewhere.

At 28, Mata is in his prime, but Mourinho does not seem to trust him with a place in the first team. He is only a backup for the first team attackers and it is understandable that Mourinho wants a more exciting star in Talisca in this position. The Brazilian midfielder from Benfica is an excellent finisher, with a peculiar eye for goal. He can score from different ranges and angles and is also adept at creating chances in the final third.

He is strong and athletic and is a perfect fit for the English league while his range of passing only makes him an even better option. He is comfortable at holding the ball up in dangerous areas and with enough game time, can turn into a first team star in the years to come. Mata is on the other end of the spectrum as he will have to perform consistently if he wants to start the next so it is better for all parties that Talisca is played in this position.

Mata is wanted by Besiktas as a replacement for Talisca, and United are ready to sell. But it is to be seen if the Spaniard would be happy to shift to Turkey.

Do you think Talisca will spell the end of Juan Mata’s career at Old Trafford?
