Sign Him Up Jose: This £134m-rated Playmaker Would Turn Man United Into Title Contenders

Saul Niguez

Atletico’s Saul Niguez Would Be A Fantastic Addition For Mourinho’s Manchester United And Here’s Why

Manchester United are being linked with a move to sign Atletico Madrid playmaker Saul Niguez. It is understood that Jose Mourinho is quite keen on signing the 22-year-old, who has managed to establish himself as a mainstay in Diego Simeone’s side. A player like Niguez will definitely boost United’s dwindling power in the midfield while breathing a new sense of life into their attack. At £134m, he will be quite expensive but United have the resources to make it happen.

The Red Devils started the new season quite convincingly and were touted as the sole challengers to Manchester City’s emphatic title contention. However, things took a turn for the worse once Paul Pogba got injured. That did pave way for Marouane Fellaini to impress everybody with his power but even the Belgian picked up an injury, and ever since then, United have been struggling with lack of creativity and attacking power in the midfield.

Henrikh Mkhitaryan, especially, has proven to be a disappointment much to the fury of several fans. Hence, it is clear that the Red Devils need reinforcements in January if they are to get back to winning ways. Their defeat against Chelsea was quite humiliating and they need to step up their preparations to face the upcoming challenges which will only get tougher.

However, the player will certainly not come cheap. He only signed a new deal with Atletico last season, and United will have to shell out a whopping £134m to trigger his release clause in order to pry him away from the Wanda Metropolitano. Moving to the Premier League will certainly be a bold move for the youngster but he has been one of Atletico’s most influential players and should fit right into United’s system under Mourinho.

Moreover, with Atletico Madrid interested in signing Mesut Ozil from Arsenal, it will be a good idea for Niguez to venture out and see what a different league would offer. This move can add valuable experience to his already impressive portfolio, while also giving him a chance to establish himself at the top-level for one of Europe’s biggest clubs.

It remains to be seen if the move eventually happens though. United are in dire need of a player like Saul but the failure to land Perisic is still a fresh wound for the fans and Mourinho. However, one must bear in mind that the price tag is very steep. But if the Red Devils land him, Niguez can truly make a positive impact on the club’s seemingly blunt attack.
