Liverpool’s attack would become much more lethal if they sign this €30m African star this summer

Liverpool opinion: Should the Reds sign Moussa Marega?

According to a report from the Liverpool Echo, Liverpool have joined West Ham and Marseille in the race for the signing of Porto’s Moussa Marega in the summer. The report reveals that the Reds are keen on the forward who has an asking price of €30million set by the Portuguese giants.

Marega has had a phenomenal season for Porto in both the Liga NOS as well as in the Champions League. The Mali international scored a very impressive 21 goals and provided 11 assists to cap off a fine individual campaign last term.

Liverpool had the chance to have a closer look at Marega when the clubs faced each other in the quarter-finals of the Champions League last month. The forward’s finishing was quite off-radar in both ties but he remained a constant threat, thanks to his movement.

The Reds will go into the new season with maximum confidence after an incredible campaign which saw them finish a point behind Man City in the Premier League but win the Champions League in Madrid.

The Reds are yet again the favourites to go head to head with Manchester City for the title next season and Jurgen Klopp will have to get his summer transfers right to help his side get their hands on the league trophy for the first time in three decades.

Divock Origi stepped up when Liverpool needed him the most in the historic comeback against Barcelona in the semi-finals. The Belgian also capped off his fine Champions League campaign by sealing the win over Tottenham in the final but his role isn’t quite clear for next season.

Origi, when used, was preferred out wide by Klopp, which has suited him. Roberto Firmino’s injury-hit end to the season was an unwanted headache and with Daniel Sturridge’s departure, Liverpool will have to bring in someone who can compete with Firmino for the striker spot next season.

Moussa Marega would be an ideal candidate for the Reds to battle it out with the Brazilian for a starting role next season and the Malian skipper would guarantee a lot of goals and assists next season.

Marega’s movement is phenomenal and it has played a huge role in helping him get on the scoresheet over twenty times. The 28-year-old can play anywhere across the front three, which makes him a perfect fit for Liverpool’s fluid attacking system.

His work ethic will go down very well with Jurgen Klopp, whose demands from his players are finally bearing rewards.

Conclusion

Liverpool’s dangerous attack will go to the next level with the addition of Moussa Marega in the summer. A front four of Sadio Mane, Mo Salah, Roberto Firmino and Marega is capable of destroying anything that stands in its way and the Reds should prioritise a move for him this summer.
