Should Manchester United Go Ahead And Buy This Long Term Target Available At a Cut Price Now?

Renato Sanches

Why Manchester United Should Consider Signing Renato Sanches This Summer

Jose Mourinho is set to make some wholesale changes to his squad this summer as he looks to take his Manchester United side closer to a league title after more than four years. The Red Devils need an influx of talent to compete with the best in the business next season and the manager is scouting some of the finest players in world football to add to his squad this summer.

One such player who has constantly been linked with a move to Old Trafford is Renato Sanches. A transfer target for Jose Mourinho in his first summer at the club, Sanches has had a disastrous time in the Bundesliga, where he made just 25 appearances in all competitions, failing to create or score a goal the entire season.

Bayern were reportedly ready to sell the player this summer for a price of £30.5m but with the lack of interest from clubs in Europe, they are reportedly ready to lower his asking price.

According to reports from German news outfit Kicker (via Sun), Bayern are ready to offload the Portuguese star for just £23m this summer and this will come as a huge boost for the Red Devils, who are desperate for such additions to their midfield at Old Trafford. So should United make a move for the youngster?

A product of the Benfica academy, Sanches has already made 12 appearances for Portugal national team and more than 50 top flight appearances in Europe and stands as one of the most exciting midfielders up for grabs at the moment.

A central midfielder by trait, Sanches loves to take on his men in attack and loves to create chances from a deeper midfield role. An excellent passer with astonishing vision, the 19-year old can score goals from different ranges and angles and is an exciting addition to the attack for United. However, he is a huge liability in defence, as he rarely tracks back, or use his body to shield the ball.

As already mentioned, he is an exciting player to have in the squad but he does not solve any of the problems Manchester United currently have at the club. The Red Devils need a genuine CDM who can walk into the first team and play alongside Paul Pogba next season.

Ander Herrea is the only other midfield option and Sanches could be a decent addition. But at the moment, United have other impending problems they need to take care of, before they can go shopping to increase the depth in the squad.
