Should Liverpool Move For This Stunning Celta Vigo star?

It was evident from the beginning of the previous season that Liverpool were seriously lacking a striker and too much responsibilities was vested on Suarez. But in January they made amends for their mistake and brought both Sturridge and Coutinho to the Anfield, both the players going on to make massive contributions for the rest of the season. Although a striker is not on the priority list right now for Brendan Rodgers right now, who needs a solid centre back immediately to replace Carragher, if Liverpool find a suitable front-man, they would certainly consider a transfer.  One such player is Celta Vigo striker Iago Aspas, who has been heavily linked with the Merseyside outfit of late and who could prove to be a vital addition to their squad. We note down three reasons why he must be seriously considered by Rodgers for a summer switch.

Versatility

Aspas is a tremendously versatile player with a brilliant eye for goal. He can play in a lot of positions for the team like the target man or the wide forward. In Celta Vigo he is deployed as the false 9 and he produces stunning results for the side. His speed and agility off the ball make him one of the most competent striker in the La Liga at the moment and Liverpool would take a harebrained decision if they do not go for the player. Liverpool could also use his aerial abilities and from the set piece situations, he can be absolutely vital for the club.

Price

Liverpool are not in a position to purchase players who demand a very high transfer fee. This financial constraint demands that they either purchase players from a top club who are not in the best notions of their manager or players who have performed brilliantly for some lower level club. Aspas fits into the second mould very well and Liverpool could get him for a fee as low as £7m.

Downing factor

Stewart Downing has been at the peak of his form in the second half of the season and under Brendan Rodgers his improvement has been remarkable. But still he cannot be a long term prospect for the club if they are to aim for the top four spot. As a reinforcement of Downing Aspas can do wonders for he can play in the right side of the flank with ease, cutting inside frequently and testing the goalkeeper with his powerful left foot curler.
