Should Chelsea replace Fabregas with Pogba?

The season is about to end and many clubs are already preparing for what is to happen next year. Chelsea are a club that have been extremely poor this year and one player who has been at the center of it all is Cesc Fabregas.

The Spanish midfielder has been horrible in midfield in few games, though he has shown that he can get the job done in many games, but those have come few and far in between. Chelsea are in need of some fresh blood in midfield and it seems that they are ready to move for Paul Pogba, yes, the same player who has been linked with a move for a number of years.

Pogba certainly would add a lot of quality to any side in the world, but should Chelsea sell Cesc to fit the French midfielder in?

French in Spanish out?

The 23-year-old Pogba has been one of the best players in Serie A over the years and well, he has had a taste of English football with his time at Manchester United. The French midfielder has scored 10 goals and provided 13 assists this season in 46 games, not a bad record for a midfielder who seems to do all the work for a side.

Fabregas on his part, has struggled and only has five goals and eight assists this season in 45 games in all competitions. The 28-year-old hasn’t been able to influence games all that much with just three man of the match performances while Pogba has got the award nine times this season in all competitions.

It isn’t just the performances this year, but what the future holds for the players. While Cesc Fabregas is certainly on his last legs, which may be stretching it a bit, but you hardly expect Fabregas to get any better in the next two or three years.

Pogba, on the other hand, is only 23-years old and it is about time he does move to a competition which will give him a proper test of his abilities and even help him get better. There is no doubt that Juventus does have a few great players at the moment, but Pogba has become the player who they rely on and he cannot be a match winner all the time.

Next season when Antonio Conte gets on board, he will want someone who is dynamic in midfield, something that is not here at the moment at Chelsea. Fabregas might be a great passer of the ball, but Pogba is the dynamo that every side needs. The French midfielder will keep on getting better as the years go by, and why not at Chelsea?

He will be playing for someone he knows really well and can continue his development in probably the most competitive league in the world. Chelsea might have to pay out of their skin but that does not mean they wouldn’t do it, if you want quality, you must be ready to spend a lot of money and whatever amount Juve wants, Chelsea should spend on getting Pogba, even if it means replacing Cesc or even sending him away to another club.
