Once upon a time Sir Alex Ferguson had said, “attack wins matches but the defense will win you trophies”. With Jose Mourinho at the helm of Manchester United, the club seems to be following the same philosophy.
According to Manchester Evening News, the new boss is still looking to add some more strength in the defense and Leonardo Bonucci has been named as the most popular choice. The Italy international had a sensational season at Juventus and has also impressed at the Euro 2016 this year. However, the report claims that the chances of United signing Bonucci is reducing as the defender is being offered a new contract by Juventus that increases his £2.9 million-a-year salary.
United have already purchased a player from Juventus and there may be less chance of another player moving in the same direction as well. Eric Bailly, the new signing from Villareal, recently won the man of the match award in the community shield game but Mourinho wants to give him some time before Bailly becomes completely ready for Premier League.
