Mesut Ozil has been one of the best midfielders in English Premier League this season. With 13 assists and 2 goals he is on track to break Thierry Henry’s Arsenal record for the maximum no of assists in a single season. Such feat would make him draw admiration from most football fans. However David Moyes, the ex Everton, Manchester United and Real Sociedad manager is not impressed.
When asked about Mesut Ozil on Sky Sports he responded by saying “Well, I think he’s now beginning to find his feet in the Premier League. It’s taken him a little bit of time. I still think the jury’s out a little bit on him but he’s creating chances and making opportunities.” proving that he still does not think that the ex Real Madrid midfielder is doing enough.
Arsenal fans have not taken the above comment particularly well. Many of them have taken to twitter to reply to David Moyes. Some tweets also have claimed that the reason for David Moyes’ current unemployment is the thought process displayed by the above comments. There is no love lost between Arsenal and Manchester United fans and a critical comment about one of the performers of one club by the ex manager of the other will clearly warrant such reactions.
David Moyes, however is not alone in his assessment of Mesut Ozil. Few days earlier Craig Bellamy had also commented that he would prefer Aaron Ramsey over Mesut Ozil at the play maker positions.
