SHOCK! Chelsea In The Market For A Courtois Replacement

Chelsea are understood to have included the Scot on a three-man shortlist as they look to add a new goalkeeper to their ranks.

Reserve keeper Asmir Begovic will join Bournemouth later this month and Thibaut Courtois’ future at Stamford Bridge still remains uncertain.

Gordon, 34, has experience of playing in England’s top flight from his five years at Sunderland, who he joined from Hearts for £9 million in 2007 and he has Premier League experience so the Blues hierarchy have no fears on that front.

He will only be sold if they can bring in a top-quality replacement.

And Gordon is one of three shot-stoppers the Stamford Bridge unit has identified by former Chelsea goalkeeping coach Christophe Lollichon who has been involved in scouting. Milan’s Diego López and Fernando Muslera of Galatasaray are also on the shortlist.

But he is contracted at Celtic Park until the summer of next year and the club has an option for a further year so a transfer fee would be involved.

Gordon’s contract doesn’t expire until next summer so Chelsea would be required to pay a fee for the player, with the Telegraph speculating that Ruben Loftus-Cheek, Dominic Solanke or Ola Aina could possibly be used as loan-move makeweights as part of the deal.

Conte’s current third-choice keeper at the club is the Eduardo, a 34-year-old who signed on a one-year deal over the summer. The Portuguese has struggled to get chances during his time with the Blues due to Courtois’ supreme form and is yet to play a single minute.

With Real Madrid still supposedly interested in signing Courtois this summer, Conte does not seem satisfied to keep just two of his senior keepers.

However, just three weeks ago, Celtic manager Brendan Rodgers spoke out on keeping Gordon
