SHOCK! Arsenal Flop Blasts Wenger’s Tactics

Former Arsenal Centre-back Sebastian Squillaci has spoken about his time at the Emirates Stadium. The French player left Arsenal in the midst of disappointment after a not-at-all fulfilling time at the Emirates Stadium.

The French player currently plays as a central defender in Ligue 1 club Bastia and recently relayed the reasons for his unsuccessful phase at Arsenal. The player stated that Arsene Wenger’s strategy and game plan did not fit his style of play.

‘I spoke to Wenger about it and he said “I know it’s hard, but that’s the way it is, I want to play like this, I want my forwards to have freedom, not to have too much defending to do.”
It was very open, and we often found ourselves one-on-one with the attacker,’- Sebastien Squillaci

According to Squillaci, Arsenal’s central defenders have a lot of stress as Wenger wants his forwards to have a lot of freedom in the field with little or no defending to do, which was more the job of the defenders wherein Squillaci did not perform up to the clubs standards.

The player had a lot expected of him when he entered Arsenal, however, he did end up maligned by the Gunners fans as well as the sports Pundits in the process.
