Why Sheffield United have done a good job by signing Muhamed Besic
According to a report from the BBC, Sheffield United completed the signing of Muhamed Besic on a season-long loan from Everton.
The Bosnia and Herzegovina international, 26, has made 56 appearances for Everton since his move to Goodison Park from Hungarian outfit Ferencvaros five years ago.
He has spent the last 18 months on loan at Middlesbrough in the Championship. After returning back to Everton, Muhamed Besic was deemed to surplus to requirements and Marco Silva has shipped him out on loan once again.
The 26-year-old enforcer became the Blades’ 10th summer signing as they prepare for their return to the top-flight this weekend.
Chris Wilder’s side have also signed the likes of Phil Jagielka, Callum Robinson, Ravel Morrison, Lys Mousset, Luke Freeman, Dean Henderson, Ben Osborn, Oliver McBurnie and Michael Verrips.
Wilder has managed to address every single area of his squad over the summer transfer window. On the deadline day, United’s options in midfield seemingly looked light and perhaps that’s the reason why Wilder chose to bring in Besic at the club.
Predominantly a defensive midfielder, Besic can play in central midfield or as an advanced midfielder in a three-man midfield if required.
Tenacious in the tackle, the 26-year-old is a busy player and always keen to play on the front foot. He can make crucial interceptions and tackles and has an absolute wand of a right foot that is capable of turning the game on its head with match-defining passes and powerful long-range shots.
The Bosnian can pass the ball with great accuracy while being defensively sound and physically strong on/off the ball. His presence in the midfield would add a layer of protection to United’s back three and allow the creative players to operate without any defensive burden.
The midfielder’s passing game is strong, and he can definitely do well for Wilder’s side even though he hasn’t played for Everton since December 2017.

Besic is a combative midfielder and his quality, as well as experience, could make a lot of difference at Bramall Lane when the Blades’ top-flight adventure starts.
Verdict
All in all, we can conclude by saying that Chris Wilder has done a smart job by signing Besic on a season-long loan from Everton.
