Sensational Silva – The Best And The Worst Rated Manchester City Players From The 2-1 Win Over Man Utd

Full Time: Manchester United 1-2 Manchester City

The race to the title seems virtually over as Manchester City are now 11 points ahead of their rivals Manchester United. Pep Guardiola’s men were their usual destructive self as sloppy mistakes from the home side allowed them to steal 3 points. Nicolas Otamendi gifted the winning goal once more for City as the centre-back made a well-timed strike to catch David De Gea off-guard.

City dominated their red rivals for most of the game and even more so in the first-half. A strike from David Silva helped them secure the lead but Marcus Rashford salvaged the situation by netting a fine goal. However, United fell short later on as they could never equalise after Otamendi’s goal. Guardiola’s men were at their absolute best and let’s take a look at how each player fared tonight.

Manchester City Player Ratings

Ederson – 8/10

Although he allowed Rashford’s equaliser, Ederson made quite a number of heroic saves after that and even got hit in his face in the process.

Kyle Walker – 7/10

He was booked for a foul on Ander Herrera but he was quite solid in general. Walker was particularly effective at keeping Romelu Lukaku and Anthony Martial at bay.

Nicolas Otamendi – 7.5/10

Although Otamendi was more or less responsible for Rashford’s equaliser, he more than made up for it by scoring the winner.

Vincent Kompany – 6/10

Kompany played in the first-half alone but even when he was on the field, he failed to truly make an impact. We have seen him do better.

Fabian Delph – 5/10

He looked out-of-place throughout the game and made a lot of clumsy errors which would have potentially cost City.

Fernandinho – 7.5/10

Fernandinho displayed his versatility once more and was equally efficient in the defence and midfield. Also, his positional awareness truly made David Silva and Kevin De Bruyne’s game easier.

David Silva – 9/10

Although he was booked, Silva orchestrated endless attacks to keep United on their toes. It was his free-kick that led to City’s second goal and it was a strong performance from him overall.

Kevin De Bruyne – 7/10

De Bruyne did his duty but we have seen him do more and it somehow felt like he was lacking pace to an extent. However, he exploited every gap he could find, to put pressure on United.

Raheem Sterling – 7.5/10

Sterling was a force to be reckoned with in the first-half but his influence waned after the break. However, he did quite a decent job to trouble the United defenders.

Leroy Sane – 8/10

Sane displayed a superior sense of pace and purpose when it came to getting City forward and his impact proved to be a real asset to City throughout the game.

Gabriel Jesus – 6/10

He lacked that power up front, which is usually his strength. Jesus has not been at his best lately and this was just another testament to that.

Subs:

Ilkay Gundogan – 7/10

It was definitely one of his stronger displays and he truly made an impact going forward.

Eliaquim Mangala – 5/10

Mangala went through the motions but he failed to add any value to the game.

Bernardo Silva – N/A

Came on with just 2 minutes left to full-time and hardly had time on the field.
