Sean Dyche to make 4 changes – Strongest 4-4-1-1 Burnley XI to face Burton Albion

Predicted Burnley XI to face Burton Albion in the League Cup

Burnley finally picked up their first win of the season against Bournemouth after a dismal start to their campaign. The Clarets triumphed 4-0 against the Cherries as many expected another mediocre performance from Sean Dyche’s men.

The Clarets return to take on Burton Albion in the League Cup in midweek. A relatively easier game on paper but the League Cup has a history of giant killing and Sean Dyche will not want to get complacent.

Team News

Apart from the usual absentees, Sean Dyche has no new injury concerns to worry about at the moment. Ben Gibson is still out as well and cannot take part in this fixture. Sean Dyche is expected to make a few changes as Burnley return to take on Cardiff City in the Premier League this weekend.

Probable Burnley XI

Manager: Sean Dyche

Formation: 4-4-1-1

Tom Heaton (GK)

Heaton is yet to make an appearance this season and the English goalkeeper should receive his first start of the season.

Matthew Lowton (RB)

Lowton will continue at right-back for the Clarets. His marauding runs and defensive diligence have always been a massive asset.

James Tarkowski (CB)

Tarkowski has started the season in good form and has picked up two goals so far. The youngster will be aiming for another successful season with the club.

James Tarkowski

Ben Mee (CB)

Mee has been one of the most consistent defenders under Sean Dyche. He will lead the Clarets from the back.

Stephen Ward (LB)

Ward has missed the last two games and should come back to the line-up for this one. His pace and energy will be fruitful for Burnley.

Berg Gudmundsson (RM)

Gudmundsson flourished on the right-hand side against Bournemouth this weekend. The Iceland international is one of their main sources of supply in the final third.

Ashley Westwood (RCM)

Westwood’s defensive work rate and urgency will be vital to control this game in the middle of the park. If he can cut off the source, then Burnley have a good chance of keeping another clean sheet.

Jack Cork (LCM)

Cork’s quick passing and intelligence make him an important player under Sean Dyche. The manager will want more of the same in this game as well.

Jack Cork

Aaron Lennon (LM)

Lennon scored a goal against Bournemouth and is in good form. The experienced winger will continue on the left-hand side of the midfield.

Jeff Hendrick (CAM)

Vydra picked up his first goal in the Premier League playing in this position but Hendrick should return to his favoured role in this game.

Ashley Barnes (ST)

Barnes scored two superb goals against the Cherries. He should lead the line in this one.
