Scouting West Ham’s Italian Target – What Will He Bring To The London Stadium?

ACF Fiorentina v SSC Napoli - Serie A

With the transfer window wide open, it’s not going to be a surprise if we see several mid profile players arrive from overseas to play in the English Premier League, as the competitivity and prestige that this tournament is getting is luring a lot of guys from all over the world into the most interesting tournament in the world.

The time to make adjustments is now, as some teams need to keep the pace if they intend to make a run at the title or at European competition spots, while others need to turn things around and try to face the second leg of the season with a better level that they did at the start of the year.

One of the most aggressive teams during this transfer period has to be Slaven Bilic’s West Ham United, as the Croatian boss hasn’t found the right formula to repeat the success he had at command of the Hammers during the past season, and the move they did to London Stadium had a very negative impact on the team and their fans so far.

So, now that they’ve finally find a bit of consistency, they need to plan ahead of the second half of the season and try to build around Michail Antonio by looking to reinforce almost every sector of the pitch.

And one of the players who has been linked with a move to Bilic’s side over the past few weeks is Napoli’s attacking midfielder Manolo Gabbiadini, and his agent has also stated that he is heading to either the Premier League or the Bundesliga in the current transfer window. So, what could he bring to the Hammers? Let’s discuss it.

Gabbiadini is a very versatile forward that can also play near the sidelines, but he thrives the most when being featured behind the main striker, as one of his best features is his ability to create spaces for his teammates while also having an outstanding shooting ability, especially from mid and long range.

Manolo is a very strong player that doesn’t dive into tackles and always gives everything whenever he steps on the pitch, being more than willing to risk his physique while getting into a tackle.

The offensive midfielder has managed to score 5 goals this season for Napoli. However, not everything is as good as it seems, as his defensive contribution and passing are quite weak, and that’s something that he’ll need to improve a lot to succeed in England.

The Italian could be a perfect fit to play alongside Michail Antonio and Lanzini, completely boosting the offensive front of a West Ham United team that has mightily struggled to send the ball to the bottom of the nets over the course of the season.

Having said that, it makes a lot of sense to bring him to London Stadium at this stage of the year, so Slaven Bilic and the Hammers should definitely do everything they can to complete this signing as soon as possible.
