Scouting for Van Gaal: Three Players Manchester United Need to Buy in the Winter Transfer Window

In spite of splashing some money in the summer transfer window, Manchester United are yet to fix some positions in the squad. Manager Louis Van Gaal is expected to go on a shopping spree during he winter transfer window in January. Here are three players Manchester United needs the most

Jose Luis Gaya from Valencia

Jose Luis Gaya

Manchester United’s full backs last season were not up to the mark and it all changed at the start of this season when Manchester United’s English left-back Luke Shaw put on a stunning performance and stole the show. Shaw made the opposition wingers look like school kids in front him. Everything was going well until Manchester United faced PSV Eindhoven in their first match of the UEFA Champions League when Shaw suffered a double fracture in his leg after a horrific tackle from PSV’s Hector Moreno. Shaw underwent an operation and is set to be a long absentee for the Red Devils. In his absence, United had Marcos Rojo in that position and the Argentine was also injured. It left Louis Van Gaal without any option other than Ashley Young for that role. This leaves the Dutch manager no option than signing a new left-back in the winter and Valencia’s Jose Luis Gaya is the front-runner for the position.

Felipe Anderson from Lazio:

The Brazilian has been on Manchester United’s radar for a while and i is likely that the Red Devils will buy him in the winter transfer window. He is a hard-working, and technically gifted player and is one of the fastest players in the modern game. He also possesses good ball control, dribbling ability, versatile and is capable of playing as a forward, as a winger, and as an attacking midfielder. In addition to his technical skills, he is also either footed and is an accurate set-piece taker. He would be a good addition to the Manchester United line-up and could play on the right flanks.

Charlie Austin from QPR:

It is a big surprise that none of the Premier League clubs wanted to sign QPR’s English striker Charlie Austin. Austin has proved that he can be a match-winner on his own in the Premier League and still none of the clubs opted for him. He is also easily better most of the eam’s first choice striker. Manchester United are currently undergoing a crisis upfront after skipper Wayne Rooney has hit the pale patch. Though he Red Devils’ latest signing Anthony Martial is doing a good job for them, Van Gaal would like to have a back-up in place and Austin is more than a back-up for United if they go on to sign him.
