Scouting For Mourinho: Two Players Manchester United Must Sign In The January Transfer Window

Jose Mourinho

Some teams seem to never be satisfied with their squads and just keep on spending big bucks in order to stay at the top of the table. One of those teams is Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United, probably the biggest disappointment of the season so far.

Mourinho needs to fix the disaster he’s created at Old Trafford, and he needs to do it right now. So, it’s only natural to think that they’ll be making a big investment during this January transfer window in order to make a run at atleast a top five spot to end this season.

Let’s go ahead and take a look at two players that they should bring to Old Trafford as soon as possible.

Virgil Van Dijk

One of the biggest concerns for Mourinho’s side has been the lack of consistency on the defensive end of the pitch, so it’s only natural to think that they might be eyeing the arrival of a good defender.

Eric Bailly had been completely outstanding since his arrival from Villarreal, but he recently suffered an injury that’ll keep him sidelined at least for a couple of months, so they could use a boost in their defensive front while they try to make a run at Atletico de Madrid’s Diego Godin, who’s very unlikely to leave the club at least until the current season is over.

So, Van Dijk could be a nice target for the Red Devils, as the talented 25-year-old has still some room to grow as a player, but has shown to be a reliable option in the defensive end, and Mourinho doesn’t seem to trust Chris Smalling anymore after a couple of subpar performances, making this signing very likely.

Antonio Rudiger

Another great choice for the defensive side of the pitch could be Roma’s wonderboy Antonio Rudiger, who’s been linked with other great clubs like Bayern Munich and Chelsea, and the 23-year-old is having a great year at the Italian side.

However, the German centre-back has made very clear that he intends to stay put at Roma for now, but we know everything can change in the blink of an eye if the Glazers intend to make a very lucrative offer for both parties.

Rudiger could provide a great boost for the Manchester United defense for the long term, so taking him away from Roma could be a great move for the Red Devils and would make the very expensive Godin signing unnecessary.

The German youngster could make an outstanding duo playing alongside Eric Bailly, and considering how young the both are, they could create a stunning legacy at Old Trafford for many years to come.

However, Manchester United’s biggest problem is Jose Mourinho, who will make very difficult for any player to want to play at Old Trafford, at least while he’s in charge, as he’s been more known lately for his terrible comments about his players instead of for his good results.
