Scouting For Mourinho – 3 Strikers Who Could Realistically Join Manchester United In January

Mourinho Man United

Manchester United sure need some depth and quality reinforcements in their striking department if they are to have a very good shot at finishing in top 4 as the second half of the season gets underway next year.

While the winter transfer window isn’t known and very popular for seeing quality players switch clubs, a few of them still get to move due to many factors, and here are 3 strikers who could realistically join the Red Devils in January

Carlos Bacca

The days of the Colombia international at the San Siro appear numbered as he almost left during the summer transfer window, but somehow he stayed put.

However, he is still mostly likely to leave and make that long-awaited switch to the EPL soon, and January won’t be too early.

The former Sevilla has got a sharp eye for the goal and has 24 goals in 50 Serie A appearances thus far.

During his time in the La Liga, he bagged 34 goals in 72 league games and also helped lead them to back to back Europa League titles.

The 30-year-old South American would provide a better-attacking options for United as they sure need it.

Daniel Sturridge

The out of favour Liverpool striker won’t be breaking into Klopp’s starting XI anytime soon, and doesn’t look to be relishing being on the bench for a larger chunk of the games.

The 27-year-old has been linked with a move away to AC Milan in January, with the Serie A outfit looking to make a swoop on the English striker as they hope to replace Bacca.

However, Sturridge, who is also attracting interests from Tottenham would most likely prefer to remain in England, and Manchester United could convince him to join, providing him a guaranteed regular playing time.

As far as quality goes, the number 9 is one of the best the league has to offer, and he can help United a lot in their title pursuit ambitions now and in seasons to come.

He is at an age where footballers hit their peak, and he could be doing exactly that at the Theatre of Dreams.

Mauro Icardi

Long-term Red Devils target, Icardi, sure remains a transfer option for the club, and a January move could work out for so many reasons.

The Inter Milan skipper has fallen out with the fans, and a lot of them would be glad to see his back as soon as possible. To make matters worse, the Argentine striker doesn’t have a very good relationship with the club’s management too, and same has been said of his relationship with some of his fellow players.

Additionally, the lack of Champions League football – a competition that has eluded him since forever could also see him decide to call it quit at the San Siro.

Inter Milan currently sits in 9th place and are not looking like a side capable of pulling off a Champions League qualifications feat at the end of this season.

With his relationship with Inter ailing and his yearn for elite European football not looking to be achieved soon, he could fancy a long-awaited switch to the Old Trafford as the club has a chance of appearing in the competition next season compared to Inter Milan.
