Liverpool’s transfer window has not been that active as people had expected it to be. Liverpool need a left back and a striker before the new season starts. Jurgen Klopp is also in search of some midfielders. Of all the midfielders in Liverpool’s squad, Emre Can was the best central midfielder. Henderson has had his moments so far but he is inconsistent. Milner is a utility player but is not a proper central midfielder. Liverpool need to bring in central midfielders. Here are 3 midfielders whom Klopp can sign this summer.
1.) Mateo Kovacic
Liverpool are linked with Real Madrid midfielder Mateo Kovacic. The 22-year-old Croatian midfielder has been out of favour at Madrid, after joining from Inter Milan last year for a fee of 31 million euros. He made only 11 appearances and was used as a substitute 23 times. Liverpool will face competition from Juventus, AS Roma and AC Milan for the Croatioan. The versatile midfielder can play various roles but will probably play the supporter’s role, providing the creativity that Liverpool lack in the centre of the midfield. He plays short passes and will suit Coutinho and Firmino. He might also become the utility player that Klopp is looking for.
2.) Mahmoud Dahoud
The 20-year-old Syrian player had a very good season for Monchengladbach. He has impressed everyone at the club and Jurgen Klopp will be looking to add him to his squad. Dahoud was in great form last season. He made 32 appearances in the Bundesliga, scoring 5 times and assisting for 8 goals. Dahoud is a box-to-box midfielder and at his young age, Klopp will love coaching him. He can not only create chances but also prevent the opposition from creating chances. Adding Dahoud to the squad will strengthen Liverpool’s midfield.
3.) Lars Bender
Lars Bender is a talented midfielder with abilities that can dictate possession and create chances. He had a tough season at Bayer Leverkusen, making just 11 appearances in the Bundesliga. But Klopp must be well aware of the talent and command that Bender possesses in the midfield. Liverpool had defensive issues and he can help Liverpool’s defenders with his defensive attributes. His tackle timing is very good and wins aerial duels quite easily. This will help him defend set pieces easily. Jurgen Klopp should look to sign him as he will addd stability to Liverpool’s midfield.
