Scouting For Liverpool: 3 Box To Box Midfielders Liverpool Could Sign This Season

Liverpool seem to be making the right purchases with deals done for a central defender, goalkeeper and even a winger but one place where they lacked was a midfielder or a box to box midfielder to be more precise.

The Premier League club do have a number of players who can fit the role but Jordan Henderson is always injured, Joe Allen only seems to play well when his position in the side in on the line and Emre Can is still learning his trade.

The only player who seems to have a future in the heart of the midfield is Can but Liverpool do need some more punch in the team and we look at three box to box midfielders that Liverpool should look to sign this summer.

Saul Niguez

One of the breakout performers from La Liga last season, Saul Niguez might have been trumped by the likes of Antoine Griezmann this season but the 21-year-old was fantastic all season and was one reason why Atletico Madrid reached the final of the UEFA Champions League.

Niguez might not have gone to Euro 2016 with the Spanish side but he could be looking at a bigger challenge and Liverpool would certainly provide him with that. It might not be easy for Liverpool to sign the talented midfielder but he is young, dynamic and full of energy, exactly what Liverpool need but will they be able to afford him?

Yaya Toure

Many eyebrows might be raised with this suggestion but with Pep Guardiola coming into Manchester City and Yaya Toure having a not so brilliant relationship with the Spaniard; it probably means the Ivorian is set to leave the Etihad stadium this season.

Guardiola might have assured Toure has a big future at the club but the 33-year-old could follow the route of James Milner and play regularly for Liverpool next season. Sure, he isn’t the youngest player in the league but he still is one of the best and him alongside Can. With Liverpool having only the Premier League to look at next season, this pairing could lead the Reds to some form of glory.

Moussa Sissoko

The best French player from the final of Euro 2016, Moussa Sissoko has already hinted that he does ant to leave Newcastle and play in the Premier League this season and Liverpool are in the running to sign him up.

Sissoko does do a great job in the right side of the attack but he would be equally effective if he is brought to the centre of midfield. He would also be a cheaper option compared to Saul Niguez or even Yaya Toure simply because he does want to leave and with the Magpies purchasing many players, they might have to sell a few of their stars if they are to keep their books in check.
