According to the Telegraph, Burnley are ready to offer £6m for Bristol City left-back Joe Bryan at the end of the season.
Sean Dyche is set to bring in a couple of quality players to strengthen his squad as he prepares for Europa League challenges next term. And one of the stars he is interested in signing is Joe Bryan, who has been a remarkable player for Bristol this season.
The promising full-back’s performances in the Championship have been influential enough to earn attention from the Premier League. Bryan shot to fame this season, most notably after earning the Man of the Match award for his display in Bristol’s famous win over Manchester United in the quarter-finals of the Carabao Cup.
However, it was during the previous campaign that the full-back truly started blossoming towards reaching his true potential. After spending time on loan with Bath City and Plymouth Argyle, Bryan seems to have improved massively as a player and is currently earning rave reviews for his marauding displays at left-back.
Capable of playing at left-back or further forward or in midfield, the 24-year-old Bryan has drawn praise for his versatility. Despite being an attack-minded full-back, Bryan is defensively solid and never neglects his defensive duties. His ability to bomb up and down the left flank and provide delicious crosses in the box is truly commendable.
With top-quality dribbling and passing skills, the 24-year-old never shies away from taking on a player. Six goals from the left-back position is a testament to his attacking qualities. With his displays, Bryan has time and again shown why he is such an important cog in the Robins’ machine. His contributions to Bristol City’s campaign have not gone unnoticed as Bryan was awarded the PFA Player in the Community award last month.
Bryan is a classic example of a modern-day full-back. He can attack and defend with equal gusto, while his versatility adds more value to the team.
Burnley have punched above their weight this season and Dyche will be confident of getting good funds from the board. Bryan appears to be on Dyche’s list in the summer and the Burnley manager must do everything to get the player ahead of the next season.
If Bryan were to move to Turf Moor, the 24-year-old will have to compete against Stephen Ward and Charlie Taylor for the left-back spot but he might also play on the left-wing.
That said, Bryan will undoubtedly be a good signing for Burnley but the Bristol academy graduate may well have a big decision to make at the end of the season.
