Scouting For Chelsea’s Antonio Conte – 3 Players He Should Sign Including This Premier League Keeper

John Stones

John Stones

With Chelsea looking to replace the ageing John Terry, Stones should be the first name on the replacement list. At 22, he is one of the brightest prospects that the EPL has to offer. An astute defender who attracts players and then completely marks them off the ball, his progress this season has been marred by injuries and although he is yet to return to his destructive mode that he was on in last season he has made a good name for himself. He’s already a favourite of Everton coach Roberto Martinez and is also being termed as a leader by his coach on a few occasions. He can form a lethal partnership with Kurt Zouma.

Gregory van der Wiel

Gregory van der Wiel

After contract talks between PSG and Gregory van der Wiel broke down in May last year, the defender revealed that he has offers from England to fall back on. Although being slightly error-prone, if Chelsea makes a move for the 27-year-old, they will be getting a workhorse of a defender. Chelsea are already looking to replace Ivanovic who has had a less than an average season. Although Chelsea offered him a one year extension under Hiddink, they still are looking for another right back who has experience at the top level and can tear down the right flank for Chelsea.

Wiel is going to be a free agent this summer and Conte must be looking to pick up the experienced right back for nothing. Conte is known for rotating his squad well and if he gets Van der Wiel, he can rotate him and Ivanovic based on the opponents and there factors.

Jack Butland

JAck Butland

With Asmir Begovic trying to look at life away from Stamford Bridge, Conte will have to look at a keeper who can step up in the absence of Thibaut Courtois. Arguably Butland has been arguably the best keeper in English Premier League this season. Butland has made 79 saves this season keeping 10 clean sheets. He has an average 2.63 saves per game. Given Courtois’ difficulty to cope up with the physicality of the English game, Chelsea needs a good back up goal keeper who can step up whenever he is asked to. Butland seems to be the perfect fit for Chelsea and Conte should waste no time to pick him up.
