Scouting 5 Players For Manchester United As LVG Is Set To Spend £150m In The Summer Window

According to Daily Express, Manchester United’s manager Louis Van Gaal is going to break, last summer’s transfer window record spending of £150m-plus as he sets to spend a much higher amount in the summer of 2015.

Van Gaal in his first season at Old Trafford has complained about having an unbalanced squad which has forced him to play, players at different positions, in spite of the fact that the he bought seven new players and also discarded twelve.

The incapability and poor form of Manchester United last season under Moyes was catastrophic, the Red Devils saw their poorest performance last season as they couldn’t qualify to play in Europe and this has also affected United’s pocket. But money is not a problem for United, with a major kit signing with sports company Adidas worth £750m and the current form of United will likely give them the qualification to the Champions League.

Ever since Gary Neville retired the finding of an appropriate player for the right back position has been a major problem for United and Nathaniel Clyne of Southampton is the best choice. Rafael played his last game in October and has been getting injured frequently, which resulted in major defensive lapses. Antonio Valencia who has been used at that position has already admitted that he prefers playing in attack rather than defence.

Nathaniel Clyne has the exact energy, aggression and speed; he also has powerful leg and can take wonderful shots. He can be easily played either as wing back or right back if the Dutchman uses his 3-5-2 formation. Manchester United has shown wonderful performance in the back and has not conceded more than a goal since October and also are third in the Premier League for lowest goals conceded.

Manchester United’s defensive lines are constantly changing, this season due to constant injuries faced by Chris Smalling, Jonny Evans and Phil Jones, which has tempted Louis Van Gaal to use youngsters Tyler Blackett and Paddy McNair, but they don’t have much experience and therefore Mats Hummels of Dortmund lists on the Dutchman’s wish for the summer.

The Red Devils are pretty sure that they will bring the German International but if it doesn’t work out, they have considered Paris St Germain’s Marquinhos as an option.

Elsewhere, Kevins Strootman is still Van Gaal’s first choice in midfield but the Roma player has to be fully fit from his knee injury before United makes a move for him. Kevin was one of the key players for the Netherland’s qualifying team in the World Cup under LVG but he missed the finals as he suffered ligament damage. Kevin Strootman played about 12 games for Roma after 9 months, but wasn’t satisfied and will be missing the rest half of the season as he returned back to Holland for an operation on the same knee, which complicated his future previously.

A lot of Manchester United fans are willing to see Pogba return to Old Trafford but that doesn’t look like it’s happening as Juventus will be asking a huge sum for the Ex- Man United player who left the club as a free agent.

What Manchester United actually need is to get a proper and a strong attack and according to reports, Louis is interested in signing Memphis Depay of Eindhoven, who has been compared to the likes of Arjen Robben. Memphis has been instrumental in PSV’s success this season and bagged 18 goals out of 23 appearances. Eindhoven’s coach Philip Cocu has said this week that Depay will be leaving in the summer.

And the 21 year old Holland international is likely to come to Old Trafford as he worked with Van Gaal in the World Cup and he respects him as a father.

And signing a new player who has just got back from injury has been a problem of Van Gaal as he is experiencing the same with Falcao who hasn’t shown much since his arrival at Old Trafford. The inconsistent form of Van Persie and Falcao’s failure to impress as a potential striker means Manchester United should make buying a striker in summer their utmost priority.

Louis Van Gaal has put Dybala from Palermo and Icardi from Inter on his list for this department.
