Scouting The 19-year Old Who Manchester United Have Made Contact With To Sign – Who Is This French Prodigy?

Manchester United seems to have been bitten by the French bug as they are lining up a move for another teen from Ligue 1. After the success of Anthony Martial from Monaco last season, the Red Devils want to sign Adam Ounas from Bordeaux.

The 19-year-old did have a decent season with the Ligue 1 club and it seems he has impressed the bosses at Old Trafford to warrant a big money signing next season. Ounas is of French-Algerian descent and started his career at local club Tours FC. He played at the club for 10 years before making a move to another club, Chateauroux.

It wasn’t all plain sailing for Adam as he left the club and had to play football at a small local club before being found by Bordeaux. The youngster made his debut for the senior team in 2015 and has scored six goals in 30 appearances for the Ligue 1 side. Manchester United have a history of doing well with youngsters, but the fact is Jose Mourinho being at the helm of the club, the decision to sign the youngster might not be too good, due to his run ins with other youngsters or at least the lack of playing time given to them.

Another French star in Manchester

The 19-year-old can play mostly in attack and is comfortable on either wing. Though he was mostly deployed as a winger on the right for Bordeaux last season. He has great dribbling ability and shooting from distance is one of his strengths. Ounas likes to cut inside as well, something that Anthony Martial and Memphis Depay also consistently do for the Red Devils.

The Ligue 1 star also had a decent showing in last season’s Europa League and he earn a lot of plaudits from all around. He also has a brilliant first touch and loves to run at defenders and taking them on.

For all those great skills which will could make him one of the best wingers in the world, he does have a problem which is the lack of strength. He isn’t the greatest when it comes to holding off defenders and the 19-year-old could be brushed aside by stronger players in the Premier League.

That should not be seen as a limiting factor as even Anthony Martial does have a similar problem, but he has worked around it thanks to his speed and quick feet, even Cristiano Ronaldo did extremely well after a difficult first season.

Manchester United might have unearthed another star in the making but certainly working under Jose Mourinho might not seem to be as attractive a proposition as it might seem.
