Scout Report: Yassin Fortune, Arsenal’s New Teenage Wonderkid

Arsenal seem to be preparing for next season even before this season ends, the constant need to replenish the talent in a top club sees the club making moves for young players and it seems the Gunners have stolen a march on some of their rivals by the signing of Yassin Fortune from RC Lens in Ligue 1.

Arsenal have continued their signing of young players and have often been criticised for their transfer dealings but in the last two transfer windows, they have shown that they are willing to get some big names and experienced players into the club so that a healthy mix of youth and experience prevails but just who is this newest young player to join the ranks of the Gunners?

An exciting attacking prospect for the future

Before everyone is up in arms expecting Yassin to be playing a huge role next season for the Gunners, he is only 16 and wasn’t even in the first team for the French club. Yassin played in the U19 team for RC Lens before signing with the Gunners in a 3-year deal. The attacking midfielder is considered as one of the brightest talents coming from the French youth system though it is extremely difficult to gauge how good a young player can actually be at such an early age.

One thing is for sure, Arsene would not be signing a player just to make up the numbers, Yassin has been impressive for Lens and even impressed when he took the field for the France U-16 side as they defeated the Swiss team 2-1. Yassin though will probably be loaned out to a club to gain some experience or will play for the Arsenal youth team to first get accustomed to the new country and style of play at Arsenal.

He will not be making a start for the Gunners any time soon and will be looking to gain some experience playing in the lower leagues before he can make the step up to the Arsenal main team. He will not be disheartened by this as Arsenal always have had a great policy with youngsters and giving them a chance to show their talent later on for the club. Yassin has to put in a lot of hard work before he can be considered for the Arsenal team but for his sake of development and growth as a footballer, he could not have chosen a better club to continue his footballing journey.
