As Anthony Martial departed from AS Monaco, the French side needed a spark; a spark that would ignite their team to compete in the league.

Thomas Lemar, the 20-year-old Frenchman arrived Stade Louis II in the last summer to fill the void of Anthony Martial. Soon after his arrival at the club, the youngster became a regular prospect for the French side. AS Monaco is currently 3rd on the Ligue 1 table and Lemar has played a major part in the club’s little domestic success this season.

The tiny left footed player has appeared in 23 games for the side and has scored 5 goals this season and has 3 assists to his name. He is considered as one of the hottest prospects in the Ligue 1 right now. There are many ways to describe this 20-year-old Frenchman, his skills makes him a crowd favorite and he is hard to stop when he has the ball at his feet. And if the reports around Europe are to be believed, then the player has entered into negotiations with the English giants, Liverpool

The youngster knows how to strike the ball from distance and how to set it up for the colleagues. His dribbling skills and his pace unsettle the opposition’s defense. A player who is capable of playing in almost every midfield position is setting some sky high expectations from the fans. He has got a tricky left foot and is capable of scoring the goals from direct free-kicks as well.

Though he is a quick learner and possesses some great qualities, he needs to be consistent in his performances and needs a regular play time to be a world class at some point. Back in 5th of March, the young gun returned to his old side Cean with Monaco’s crest on the chest. The boy curled an extraordinary free kick from 25 yards to beat his former partner Rémy Vercoutre.

Lemar saw a dramatic rise in his career as just 2 seasons back, he was playing the second-division football and right at this very moment he is under a professional contract with Monaco until 2020.

Signed at just €4m last summer, Monaco witnessed a star in the making. The players of his age are always the alluring point for the big clubs of Europe and, we will have to wait to see whether this highly talented Frenchman remains at Monaco or goes for glory.
