Saturday Transfer Round up – Isco, Tom Ince And An Arsenal Bid For Barcelona Winger

Here is a round up of news from the transfer market.

What’s with Isco and Chelsea ?

Earlier this month, Isco the young Spanish midfielder from Malaga was linked with a transfer to Chelsea after Lucas Piazon was loaned in the other direction. As of late, there are new rumours that the 20 year-old is set to extend his stay at Malaga by signing a new contract – which would evidently blow any chance of a transfer to Chelsea this January and possibly in the summer.

The midfielder has a £16m release clause in his contract that could be triggered at any time, although with a new contract, Malaga would presumably erase that or raise the fee. What ever happens, Chelsea don’t look set to make Isco their player in this winter window.

Latest on Tom Ince

Tom Ince’s representatives are still hopeful that a deal with Liverpool can be agree even though the Reds have agreed a deal to bring Inter Milan midfielder Coutinho to Liverpool. Liverpool however are not prepared to pay Blackpool’s £8m valuation of the player. The next few days will be interesting for the Anfield faithful who will surely be impressed with the amount that is spent on transfers. The last two transfer windows are possibly Liverpool’s best in the recent past.

Arsenal show late interest in Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca but do they need him ?

Yet another winger for the Gunners ? There could yet be another twist in the tail in Zaragoza bound Barcelona winger Isaac Cuenca’s future, as Uk based news daily ‘Express’ reports that Arsenal have shown late interest in the wide midfielder.

Arsenal have long been interested in Cuenca and were keen on signing him before he suffered a serious knee injury late last season. Express reports that the Gunners boss wants to take the skillful Barcelona winger to the Emirates on loan with an option to make the move permanent.

Cuenca in Arsenal's radar

The players versatility could play a key role in Wenger’s interest, as he is capable of slotting in at four attacking positions – left wing, right wing, behind the striker or as a false 9 – and still be just as effective thanks to his superb technique and positioning skills.

Barelona are currently stocked in the midfield and feel Cuenca is a surplus to requirements and would welcome a loan move to Arsenal or Zaragoza.

Cuenca had missed the Olympics for Spain over the summer and the entire first half of the current campaign through knee injury, although he has been training with the first team since November 26, before finally being given the medical all clear this week.

AC Milan chief Adriano Galliani on Kaka, Drogba and the latest Milan news

“We are happy with the signing of Cristian Zaccardo because he is a good player. How the rest of the January transfer market will go? I don’t know. There is still time until the 31st of January. President Berlusconi is right. I always hope and then I look at the numbers and stop. It is difficult to complete transfers when you evaluate the costs. But who knows if I won’t find something before the transfer window closes.

“We are no longer working on signing Kakà. There is really no possibility of us signing him. Didier Drogba? We will remain as we are. Mattia Perin? Yes, we had a meeting with Genoa, but we did not talk about Mattia Perin. We will also try to balance our books and break even in 2013. Therefore we can’t afford to make certain transfers”
