Predicted Arsenal Line-up To Face Chelsea In The Premier League
Arsene Wenger will be a happy man after his side managed to start their European campaign on a winning note as they beat Bundesliga side Koln on Thursday. But just a couple of days later, they are now back in action against arch-rivals Chelsea in a scintillating match-up in the Premier League.
The Blues last played on Tuesday and have two extra days for recovery and will surely go into this game as strong favourites but Arsenal, who have a good squad, will be no pushovers and will surely give their all, and try to take a point or three from this tie. Wenger has a few selection issues, thanks to the UEL schedule, but he would still have a hoard of talents to pick from.
Team News
Arsenal are still without the services of midfield duo Santi Cazorla and Francis Coquelin. They remain the only injury concerns for Wenger.
Formation: 3-4-3
Manager: Arsene Wenger
GK – Petr Cech
The first choice shot stopper for Arsenal, Cech should get his place back, after being replaced by David Ospina for the UEL tie.
CB – Laurent Koscielny
The Frenchman is one of the first names on the team sheet and is literally irremovable from the set-up. Will be a crucial figure in a crunch game as this.
CB – Shkodran Mustafi
The German has struggled for form this season and he will be up against the likes of Alvaro Morata, playing at the heart of the Arsenal defence.
CB – Nacho Monreal
Probably one of the most underrated players in Europe right now, the full-back turned CB has done well in this position and should keep his place in the side for the weekend.
RWB – Hector Bellerin
Lack of options should see Arsene Wenger use Bellerin as the wingback on the right flank, not too long after he completed 90 minutes against Koln.
CM – Granit Xhaka
The Swiss international was dropped for the Europa League game and should return back to the Arsenal midfield for this tie.
CM – Aaron Ramsey
The Welsh international was also not a part of the team that faced Koln on Thursday and should partner Xhaka in the middle of the park against Chelsea.
LWB – Sead Kolasinac
The full-back found the back of the net against Koln and Wenger will hope that he can put in a similar performance against their local rivals.
RW – Mesut Ozil
Another player who was not a part of the game in the mid-week, Ozil should be fresh and raring to take on Chelsea this weekend.
LW – Alexis Sanchez
It doesn’t matter if he played 90 minutes or 900 minutes during the midweek, Alexis Sanchez is an infinite sprint engine and will give it his all when he plays. Should start the game on Sunday.
ST – Alexandre Lacazette
The French striker will play at the Stamford Bridge for the first time in his career and will hope to leave a mark.
