Alfredo Morelos scored four goals to hand Rangers a comprehensive 5-0 win over 10-man Kilmarnock and a place in the last-eight of the Scottish Cup.
The Colombian striker opened the scoring in the seventh minute when Daniel Candeias found him with a good ball and all it needed was a clinical finish from close range.
The visitors went down to 10 men in 25th minute when Daniel Bachman was contentiously sent off for elbowing Glen Kamara. The referee could have easily given the yellow card as well, but he thought of it slightly differently.
Steven Gerrard’s men doubled the lead at the stroke of half-time when the same combination got into the act together. Morelos nodded the ball into the back of the net after some good play with Candeias.
Andy Halliday increased the lead to 3-0 in the 77th minute when he thumped home the shot, assisted by Ryan Kent. Morelos completed his hat-trick a minute later when Candeias assisted him again for the goal.
Five minutes later, after some untidy work from Kilmarnock at the edge of their own box, Morelos got another chance slipped in by Steven Davis. And the Colombian made no mistake to score his fourth goal of the night.
At the end of the day, it was a comfortable work for the Gers, who reached the last-eight of this competition.
