Rowett to make 4 changes – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Derby County line-up to face Cardiff City

Predicted Derby County Line-up To Face Cardiff City In The EFL Championship

Derby County had a very disappointing loss to Middlesbrough on Saturday and now need to win every game left in order to have a chance of getting into the playoffs. The manner of the defeat was the most disappointing aspect, with Gary Rowett trying an untested formation for the Rams, which went badly.

They come up against a Cardiff side that are still pushing for 2nd place and it will be an incredibly tough game, with both sides needing the victory.

Probable Derby County XI

Manager: Gary Rowett

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Scott Carson (GK)

Carson had a decent game against Boro and there wasn’t really too much he could do for either of the goals. Will be looking for a better performance from his defenders.

Andre Wisdom (RB)

Wisdom was pushed forward into the RWB position against Middlesbrough and did not look comfortable. He got caught out of position several times and will be looking forward to getting back to a more familiar role.

Curtis Davies (CB)

The defence just looked a little confused about what they were supposed to be doing against Boro but Davies still looked solid aerially and tackled well.

Andre Wisdom

Richard Keogh (CB)

Keogh had the role of stepping out of the back-three with the ball at his feet and actually did quite well at times. He looked better than he has for much of this season.

Chris Baird (LB)

The experienced left-back offers defensive stability on the left-hand side for Derby and they lacked this against Boro. He doesn’t get forward often but they concede fewer goals with him in the squad.

Joe Ledley (CM)

Was dropped for the game against Middlesbrough but could see him back as there was a lack of control in the game against Boro. Came on late and seemed to give the squad more stability to push forward.

Tom Huddlestone

Tom Huddlestone (CM)

Huddlestone has not been in great form since returning from injury and he didn’t look fully fit against Boro. Should get better with playing time but needs to step up for these last few games.

Tom Lawrence (AMC)

Lawrence had an excellent game against Boro and caused a lot of problems for their defence in the attacking midfield position. A tricky customer with the ball at his feet.

Kasey Palmer (AML)

Kasey Palmer changed the game when he came on at the weekend. The tricky winger can terrorise defences when given the chance.

Kasey Palmer

Andreas Weimann (AMR)

Weimann was sacrificed for the formation against Boro and they looked to really miss his width on the right-hand side.

Cameron Jerome (ST)

Nugent had a torrid afternoon against Boro. He hardly won any of the aerial challenges and was not present in the 6-yard-box when needed. Jerome should come back into the side to add a different option.
