Rowett to make 2 changes – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Derby County lineup to face Queens Park Rangers
Having put themselves firmly in position to take the second automatic promotion place by mid-January, Derby have now won only once in their last 6 games and they even succumbed to the impressive Fulham at home over the weekend.
The Rams now will travel to face a tricky Queens Park Rangers side in a midweek clash. Their confidence will be at a low and a closer look at this current bad run really does make for bleak reading.
Failing to beat Millwall along with beleaguered sides Leeds and Reading was quite bad for Derby. However, the defeat at Sheffield Wednesday really wasn’t good enough in any way and a performance like that one on the road again will mean another loss.
Team News
Chris Baird is still suspended meaning Andre Wisdom can finally attempt to assert himself in the right-back role while George Thorne and Cameron Jerome may make way for fresh legs.
Predicted Derby County XI
Manager: Gary Rowett
Formation: 4-2-3-1
GK – Scott Carson
The former England man retains plenty of ability and if the Rams fail to go up this season it won’t be because of him.
RB – Andre Wisdom
His performances have been frankly underwhelming since coming in. Fulham have Ryan Fredericks and Cyrus Christie and both of them are a world away from what Derby have.
CB – Richard Keogh
Solid at the back alongside Davies and is very likely to start once more.
CB – Curtis Davies
Still capable of top division football, Davies is a rare solid member of this squad currently.
LB – Craig Forsyth
The left-back has had a pretty good season and will no doubt be called upon once more.
CM – Tom Huddlestone
Slow and assured, Huddlestone will look to ping the ball around and attempt to cut QPR open from a deep position.
CM – Joe Ledley
Thorne played last time out but Ledley may be asked to come in and freshen things up.
AMR – Andreas Weimann
This front line isn’t necessarily getting the job done but Derby have little in the way of options so Weimann is bound to play again.
AMC – Matej Vydra
The former Watford man has plenty of goals to his name but a return to tip-top form is needed now.
AML – Tom Lawrence
At least possesses genuine quality and can unlock the QPR defence if given the chance.
ST – David Nugent
Cameron Jerome never was a signing that got Derby fans overly excited and with the goals not flowing, Nugent may come back in to offer his physical presence in a bid to create room for Lawrence and Vydra.
