Roofe To Start, Vieira In The Middle – Predicted 4-2-3-1 Leeds United Line-up To Face Middlesbrough

Predicted Leeds United Line-up To Face Middlesbrough In The EFL Championship

Middlesbrough manager Garry Monk brings his improving side back to his old stomping ground as Leeds United play host to the Teessiders this weekend.

Leeds boss Thomas Christiansen is under fire and may have ex-manager David O’Leary staring down from the stands too which surely cannot help matters in the long run.

Samu Saiz is at a risk of suspension with 4 domestic yellow cards but should still start, while no significant injuries have yet been reported. After 4 defeats in a row, you could forgive Christiansen for shaking things up a bit. However, I feel the familiar 4-2-3-1 formation seen for most of the season will be in evidence here:

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Manager: Thomas Christiansen

GK – Andy Lonergan

I’m not an advocate of throwing Lonergan in ahead of Wiedwald and, sadly predictably, he has made mistakes too.

RB – Luke Ayling

The right-back continues to improve and is a beacon in this side. You fear he may not be here for long.

Luke Ayling

CB – Pontus Jansson

Having not been exerted during Sweden’s heroic World Cup qualification success over Italy, he should come back here fresh and full of himself.

CB – Liam Cooper

Christiansen may have settled on these two as a pairing now and as long as Cooper keeps his head, he can prove vital here.

LB – Gaetano Berardi

As admirable as he is, Berardi’s place seems to be under threat should the club find a proper left-back replacement for the departed Charlie Taylor.

CM – Kalvin Phillips

The central midfield man has been in good form this season and had effectively ousted Vieira from this role, though may now end up partnering him.

Kalvin Phillips

CM – Ronaldo Vieira

The young midfielder was given a start last time in a 4-3-3 but may go back to the usual role here alongside the improving Phillips.

RW – Kemar Roofe

Introduced at half-time last time, Roofe may well be re-introduced from the start here to give Leeds some pace up front.

CAM – Samu Saiz

One more booking will see him suffer a one-match ban but for now, the Spaniard is vital to this line-up and should start again.

Samu Saiz

LW – Egzijan Alioski

Going well on either wing, Alioski can start once more and will look to influence the game.

ST – Pierre-Michel Lasogga

Somewhat of an outcast in Germany, Lasogga has done extremely well here and for all intents and purposes, has covered the space left by Chris Wood really well.
