Romelu Lukaku breaks Christian Vieri’s goalscoring record after brace against Napoli

Romelu Lukaku joined Inter Milan from Manchester United and recently broke a record

Manchester United sold Romelu Lukaku to Inter Milan and the Belgian broke a record for them.

Lukaku joining Inter was one of the big moves in the summer. United didn’t replace the big Belgian, and they have been inconsistent this season.

Inter, for their part, are giving Juventus a real fight for the Serie A title. Antonio Conte has turned things around for his new team, and that is partly due to Lukaku’s goals.

The 26-year-old has scored 14 times from 18 Serie A games and has broken a record held by Italian legend Christian Vieri.

Lukaku scored a brace against Napoli recently to break the record.

The Belgian also has a couple of goals in the Champions League but Inter were eliminated from that competition in the group stage.

The Serie A side are leading the league standings and have lost just one game in the competition. Juventus are also tied on the same points as Inter but are second due to goal difference.

Lukaku’s revival

The Belgian struggled for consistency in his final season at United. Lukaku scored 12 Premier League goals in the entirety of the previous campaign and has already crossed that milestone for Inter in just 18 games.

It will be interesting to see how many he scores come the end of the season. Inter are heavily dependent on the 26-year-old and could break the stranglehold that Juve have on the Serie A.

The Europa League could also be a target as Inter are one of the stronger teams in the competition.

They face Ludogorets in the first knockout round and it will be interesting to see if Conte takes this competition seriously.
