After dropping a couple of points from a winning position late in the game against Arsenal in the last round, Jose Mourinho’s Manchester United are back in action as they welcome the struggling Hammers to the Old Trafford this weekend. Slaven Bilic’s side have found it hard to get consistent results but are expected to provide the Red Devils with some tough competition going into this game. Mourinho will know that his team is still on the fringes of a top-4 spot and will hope that they can take all three points from this game to start climbing the points table.

Here is the predicted lineup that Mourinho might field for this game:

Team News:

Manchester United will still be without the services of their central defending pair of Eric Bailly and Chris Smalling both of who are ruled for a while. Bastian Schweinsteiger will be the only other player to miss out from the squad for this game.

Formation: 4-2-3-1

David de Gea:

The Spaniard was rested in the Europa League fixture on Thursday and he will be back in front of goal for Manchester United for this weekend.

Antonio Valencia:

Putting in a super performance coming back from injury against Arsenal, Valencia is the first choice full back for Mourinho and should start this game.

Phil Jones:

Another player who has impressed in his first game back from injury, Jones is expected to retain his place in the squad for this game against West Ham.

Marcos Rojo:

Showing some serious form as a centre back, Rojo has helped Manchester United in the wake of injuries to key players and he should keep his place in the squad for this game.

Luke Shaw:

The English international is also the first choice full-back for Mourinho on the left and he is expected to start this game against the Hammers.

Ander Herrera:

Arguably the best midfielder for United this season, Herrera has helped improve the balance of the side and he should start this game at the weekend.

Paul Pogba:

Showing some form in the last few games, Pogba is becoming more and more effective for United and he has to be at his best for his team to take all three points from this game.

Juan Mata:

The Spaniard scored the only goal for United in the previous round and is in fine form going into this crunch game against West Ham.

Wayne Rooney:

Catching some form recently, Rooney is an impact player for Manchester United and he should retain his number 10 spot in the starting XI at Old Trafford.

Marcus Rashford:

The youngster is now a regular in the side at Old Trafford and has helped them improve their attack. He should start this game on the left-wing for United this weekend.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic:

Having served his suspension against Arsenal, the Swede is now eligible to play and will be back in action leading the attack of the Manchester United side in this game against the Hammers.
