Rogic and Dembele to start – Strongest 4-2-3-1 Celtic XI to face Motherwell in the Scottish Cup final

Share

Celtic are on course to seal back-to-back domestic trebles if they beat Motherwell on Saturday in the Scottish Cup and that should easily be enough to motivate them to finish this season on a high. They have absolutely dominated the Scottish League once more and Brendan Rodgers’ side will only become stronger in the summer.

Motherwell come into this game on the back of an excellent cup run and will be obsessed by the prospect of causing an upset. They will believe that they can raise their game for 90 minutes and cause a giant-killing. Will be a very interesting game.

Probable Celtic XI

Manager: Brendan Rodgers

Formation: 4-2-3-1

Scott Bain (GK)

The 26-year-old season has had a very interesting season after joining Celtic from Dundee in January. He was thrown straight into the squad after an injury to Craig Gordon and has been solid.

Mikael Lustig (RB)

The Swedish right-back has had an excellent season for the Hoops and will be looking to stay solid in the final.

Dedryck Boyata (CB)

The 27-year-old has really made the Celtic centre-back position his own and has turned from a promising youngster into an experienced player. He leads from the back and organises his defence well.

Kieran Tierney

Kristoffer Ajer (CB)

Ajer has just signed a new four-year contract with the club and this could spur him on to perform well in this final.

Kieran Tierney (LB)

The 20-year-old has had a breakthrough season for the Hoops and is an absolutely fantastic prospect.

Scott Brown (CM)

The central midfielder has been absolutely fantastic this season for Celtic and deserves all of the plaudits coming his way. He is a born leader and adds some real bite to that Celtic midfield.

Scott Brown

Olivier Ntcham (CM)

Ntcham is the more creative part of the Celtic midfield and seems to have learnt some of his skills from his old Manchester City teammates. Has the ability to make a real difference for his team.

Tom Rogic (CAM)

The Australian midfielder has been a magician for Celtic this season and can change games in an instant. He can pick out the killer pass and will be hoping to inspire his team on Saturday.

James Forrest (LW)

Forrest has come all the way up through the youth ranks at Celtic and has played a lot of games on the left-wing for Celtic this year. He’s a real testament to their youth development and will be looking to cause a threat to the opposition.

Callum McGregor

Callum McGregor (RW)

Another home-grown winger who has been brilliant for Celtic this season. He is hard-working and skilful. He works tirelessly up and down the right-wing and that’s why Rodgers always sticks with him.

Moussa Dembele (ST)

The powerful striker has been fantastic for Celtic this season. He is still not the finished product but he is fast, strong and is an instinctive finisher. He is only going to get better and will want to grab a goal in this final.
