Leicester City opinion: Should the Foxes make a move for Tom Rogic?

Leicester City under Brendan Rodgers have begun to form an identity. Something that even Claudio Ranieri couldn’t manage to sustain, although they turned into a sensational counter-attacking side under his tutelage.

That lead them to their very first Premier League title and has carried them forward thus far. While Claude Puel tried to establish his identity on the club, it was one that was clearly not supported by either the players or the fans.

However, the former Southampton boss did make a few smart decisions at the start of this season adding key stars all over the field. The likes of James Maddison, Ricardo Pereira, and Youri Tielemans among others have helped the new manager.

Rodgers arrived from Celtic mid-way through the season and has slowly but steadily, as mentioned above, begun to form an identity.

But to complete that transformation, the former Liverpool boss needs a few transfer windows. One is arriving rapidly and it seems that Celtic could find themselves robbed by their former boss.

The Sydney Morning Herald has reported that one of Leicester City’s top targets is Celtic star Tom Rogic as the Foxes look to add players. A former star under Brendan Rodgers, the 26-year-old has had an injury-hit season but has managed to contribute to 11 goals in 33 appearances.

A knee injury has seen him miss nearly half the season and that hasn’t fazed the Australian. When fit, however, Rogic is a versatile playmaker, capable of playing in multiple positions all over the field.

This season alone, he has played as a number 10, a central midfielder and even as a defensive midfielder, where Rogic has done surprisingly well.

A dynamic player, there is clearly little that the Australian cannot do. That combined with his ability to either create or score goals at a very consistent rate over the course of his career, makes him a great buy for the Foxes.

They need someone to contribute with a few goals from midfield, and while Maddison has done that, they need someone else as well.

Tom Rogic may not be the world-class star that the fans might be hoping for but he is someone who can make a real difference for the club. Leicester City need a central midfielder and one who can contribute with a few goals.
