Robinho was meant to take part, but the official Milan website confirms he was forced to turn back during a lay-over in Frankfurt due to problems with his passport.
He has now returned to Italy in order to sort through the paperwork issues.
“The Brazilian player will meet up with the squad in the next few days in Philadelphia.”
Milan’s US tour will also see them play Club Deportivo Olimpia on August 4 and Real Madrid on August 8.
