Manchester United striker Robin van Persie has deleted his account in social networking site Twitter. His wife Bouchra van Persie also deleted her twitter account.
PFA player of the year was a regular tweeter during his Arsenal days. But never made any tweets after his controversial move to Manchester United.
Even though no official reason has been given, it is believed that threats and hate tweets from Arsenal fans was the main reason for his departure from Twitter.
This has come just a day after former match of the day presenter Gary Lineker quit the site for some personal reasons.
Lineker posted a short tweet on the social networking site this evening that read: “I’m leaving twitter for personal reasons. Thanks all.” This even surprised his son George, who replied to the goodbye message : “You what?”
