Ridiculous Bid Sees A Deal Fall Apart Involving Liverpool

Liverpool wants to sell Christian Benteke this summer and while all the Premier League clubs are aware of it, not many have shown interest in the striker. Last week Crystal Palace is said to have offered Liverpool £30 million for the player but the bid was rejected by the Reds.

Having purchased him for £32 million a year ago and after a disappointing season, rejection of the £30 million offer may seem unusual but the reasons have been exposed by Liverpool Echo. According to the publication, the reason the deal did not happen is because of silly clauses included into the offer.

Crystal Palace’ offer was £23.5 million initially with another add-on of £7 million. Well while it sounds decent the add on conditions are what made the deal fall apart. Apparently, there were clauses that said the Crystal Palace had to qualify for the Champions League with Benteke scoring 20 goals and playing 70% of the fixtures in order for Liverpool to make that extra £7 million.

One word! “Crazy!”
