According to the latest reports, Chelsea are now the favorites to sign German star Marco Reus from Borrusia Dortmund. Reus is linked with a host of premier league clubs including Manchester City, Liverpool and Arsenal, but the blues are now leading the race to sign the Borussia Dortmund winger.
Marco Reus has a release clause of £19.6m attached with his current contract. Dortmund tried extending his contract but Reus rejected the offer earlier this year which was a hint that he wants to play his football elsewhere. Dortmund manager Jurgen Klopp also gave a hint that he couldn’t stop Reus if he decides to leave the club
He said,
“We had very successful years and we couldn’t keep all these players.”
“Not all of them stayed here. They had their own dreams their own situations different ideas, whatever. So we will see (about Reus).”
Chelsea already have few good wingers as Andre Schurrle, Willian, Mohammed Salah and Eden Hazard form an impressive squad. Despite that, the blues are not willing to let the opportunity of singing a top class player like Reus for a fee of £19.6m pass.
Reus, who has been ruled out until the new year, is contracted with the club until 2017 but his release clause can be activated from next Summer on-wards.
