According to a report from Italy’s Calciomercato, it seems that Gonzalo Higuain’s contract is once again the topic of discussion at Napoli. The player’s €94m release clause has attracted a lot of controversy whether to up it, keep it the same, or lower it. The simple fact that the clause is of such importance is due to the fact that Premier League giants Arsenal were keen on signing the Argentine international and have offered Higuain a proposal.
The Gunners are at present ‘in the lead’ as far as Premier League sides are concerned to acquire the 27 year old striker’s services.
The attacker was one of a few Napoli players to lose their edge under former boss Rafa Benitez, though new manager Maurizio Sarri has turned things around now.
Respectable Argentine newspaper Clarin highlighted the headline ‘El Arsenal inglés pagaría una fortuna por Higuaín’, which means ‘The English Arsenal (there’s an Argentine one too) would pay a fortune for Higuian’.
Well, if Higuain is actually keen to get back Champions League football, a move to north London could surely be on the cards.
