Spanish football journalist and pundit Guillem Balague has claimed that Manchester United are facing stiff competition from five other clubs in their hunt to sign Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann .

The French international has blossomed into one of Europe’s finest talents and is one of the many key men at Atletico Madrid. In the recent few seasons, Griezmann has been one of the most prolific, consistent and most coveted strikers in Europe.

In the past few weeks though there have been rumors and speculations about a move away from the Vincente Calderon stadium after Griezmann admitted that he would love to play with his France team-mate Paul Pogba, in the future.

However, Guillem Balague was questioned if Griezmann was set to move to Old Trafford in the future to which Balague replied,

“He (Griezmann) has got offers from the top five clubs in the world but first he has to decide to leave. At this moment in time he is yet to reach that conclusion.”

Griezmann, 25 has already scored six times this season, notching up four assists in 15 La Liga appearances as Atletico Madrid and Griezmann continue to challenge rivals Real Madrid and Barcelona for the league title.

Jose Mourinho is very keen on bringing the French sensation to Old Trafford and could possibly be the heir apparent to Wayne Rooney. But the Red Devils will know they will have many clubs to battle with, as the star has claimed many admirers over the few seasons, including carrying his national team to the Euro 2016 finals.

Manchester United are currently sixth in the Premier League. They already brought in four players during the summer window including Eric Bailey, Zlatan Ibrahimovic, Paul Pogba and Henrikh Mhkitaryan. Griezmann is certainly in that bracket of players quality-wise, if not maybe even better.
