Now, the Gers manager, Steven Gerrard is steadfast on bringing Edmundson to Ibrox as he is planning for a major overhaul.

The centre-back is also on the radar of Hull City and Stoke City.

Edmundson has a year left in his contract and the Light Blues are confident that the transfer will see the light of the day in the end.

Edmundson’s impact this season

The centre-back was at the heart of the defence for the Latics this season with 45 appearances.

Edmundson was praised for his individual performances, though his side finished in the bottom half of the League Two table.

Future plans at Ibrox

The English prospect would be a great addition but he is expected to battle for his place with Connor Goldson and Nikola Katic, who have been brilliant in recent times.

Gerrard has made a legion of signings this Summer and it looks obvious the former Liverpool star is aiming to put a halt to Celtic’s winning run in the upcoming season.
