Rangers News: Rangers are reportedly closing in on a deal to sign Aberdeen player Greg Stewart claims The Sun.

The report adds that the Light Blues have held talks with the representatives of Stewart, who is currently on loan from Birmingham City. (h/t The Daily record UK)

Player Stats

A youth product of the Gers and the Hearts, Stewart made his breakthrough at Cowdenbeath where he made over a 100 appearances.

After an impressive spell at Dundee, the Scotsman stepped foot in the Premier league in 2016.

The 29-year-old was loaned out to Aberdeen and Kilmarnock. He made waves with the latter club where he contributed with eight goals in 16 appearances.

With the Dandies this season, he hasn’t quite found his rhythm as he has scored only one goal in over 10 appearances.

Possibilities of signing

The Scot forward is due to become a free agent at the end of this season. Moreover, his parent club, Blues’ promotion hopes are long gone which would definitely make Stewart seek an exit from the club.

How will he fit in Gerrard’s playing 11?

The odds aren’t great for Stewart to become the first-choice striker since the presence of Alfredo Morelos will hinder his chances.

Given his experience, he could provide cover for the Colombian striker alongside Jermain Defoe.

Steven Gerrard

The Gers are likely to end this season without any trophies.

However, the Light Blues produced an inspirational victory against Hearts which allowed them to recover from Sunday’s derby defeat.
