According to the latest reports, Arsenal are on the verge to finalize a deal to sign Olympiakos defender Kostas Manolas. These reports also claims that the Greek star has already undergone medical with the North London club and the gunners are expected to officially confirm the deal in next few days. Reported transfer fee is around £8m.
Kostas Manolas came into spotlight after some good displays in his national colors in the World Cup at Brazil. He was even voted as one of the top 50 players of the tournament. This enabled him to attract interest from top European clubs like Juventus and Roma. But, Arsenal are now considered as the firm favorites to sign the 23 year old defender.
If signed, Manolas will be a direct replacement for Thomas Vermaelen, who left the Gunners for Barcelona this summer. He will also add considerable depth to Arsenal defense which already got a boost with the additions of players like Chambers and Debuchy.
