Report published on Express reveals that Borussia Dortmund midfielder Nuri Sahin was so close to joining the premier league leaders Arsenal. Former Liverpool loanee said that he had three chances to join the Gunners in his career.
Nuri Sahin reveals Arsenal bidsSahin who joined Real Madrid from Borussia Dortmund came back to the German side as a lonee this season as he yet again failed to make his mark at Real Madrid. When asked about his Arsenal links, the 25 year old play maker said in a recent interview,
“It was very close. Three times in my career I was almost at Arsenal. It never happened, but that is normal in football.”
“I think I was 16 the first time and then last summer we spoke with Arsenal, but in the end I signed with Liverpool.”
Sahin also praised Arsenal’s record signing Mesut Ozil,
“He is a great player and good friend of mine.”
“If you said he was the only player for Arsenal it would be disrespectful, but you can definitely say he is an important part of the team.”
