According to the latest reports, Arsenal are preparing a sensational £40million bid for Real Madrid star Mesut Ozil. Arsenal are playing a very tough/risky game in the transfer window so far by just signing two players Yaya Sanogo and Mathieu Flamini. Both of them came at zero cost. It is believed that Arsenal are planning to wait until the last last day of the window (D-day), wait for all other teams to sign their targets and then pounce on the remaining world class players for cheap money. Gonners will hope their strategy don’t backfire at them.
Geoff (a decent twitter source) also confirmed about the £40million bid for Mesut Ozil. He tweeted that Arsenal are interested in signing a £40million German star but did not give the player’s name even after so many fans persuaded him to do so. Geoff is known as a good source for concrete Arsenal transfer news. He tweeted about Flamini’s signing before it was even announced officially. He also reported Cazorla’s capture first in the internet.
Anyway it’s not that brainy to find the player who Geoff was talking about. Mesut Ozil is the only German international of that high standard who is still available in the market.
Ozil is really an outstanding versatile player who can play in any attacking positions. He has good speed and strong ability to assist/ score. With him on the left wing, Arsenal’s once famous left side attack (Pires/Cole, Nasri/Clichy) could make a return to haunt the rival clubs.
These reports also suggest that Ozil want at least £200,000 a week salary. Will Arsenal offer that much? or will Manchester United steal him right under Arsenal’s nose? We will wait and see.
