According to the latest reports, Arsenal are preparing a bid for Sevilla’s defensive midfielder Geoffrey Kondogbia. Reports also suggest that Arsenal are even ready to match the player’s release clause which is £17m.
After signing for Sevilla last year for just £3m, Kondogbia impressed many top clubs around Europe with his fearless display on the pitch. Top English teams like Manchester United, Chelsea and Arsenal are interested in signing him, but Sevilla are adamant that they will not sell for anything less than £17m.
Geoffrey Kondogbia has been compared with one of the legends of the game Patrick Vieira by French media. Like Vieira, Kondogbia has a great impressive upper body strength, stands tall at 6ft, fearless in tackles and also has good ball winning skills.
Express, recently reported that newly rich Monaco launched a £13m bid for Kondogbia but the bid was rejected by the Spanish team. So, it looks like a bidding war is on cards here.
On other hand, Arsenal are desperate to sign a defensive midfielder this summer. They already failed with bids for Lars Bender and Luiz Gustavo. They are without a typical defensive midfielder since Song left for Barcelona last summer. Arsenal scouts believe 20-year-old has all the required abilities to become a top player in Arsenal colors. Arsenal are expected to make an official bid in next few days.
